Los Angeles Trucking Companies Lease Purchase Programs

By Ruth Ross

As a student or new driver just entering into a truck driving career, the number one question on your mind is whether or not a particular trucking company is a "good" one. The question, "Is this a good company to work for?" is asked of me practically on a daily basis. You will hear good things about a company and you will hear bad things about a company... That is just the nature of the business. You may have researched many of the driver forums across the internet to see what drivers are saying about certain Los Angeles Trucking Companies. Usually, by the time you get done with many of these forums, you are more confused than when you started.

Consequently, if the trucking company doesn't want you to own the truck, they can simply cut down the number of loads they offer you. You cannot take that truck and go to a different trucking company. If your budget was based on you having a certain number of loads each week and you don't get them, you can quickly find yourself short of the required funds to make the payments.

Even if you are driving safely, though, you cannot always predict when a tired truck driver or improperly maintained vehicle will put you at risk for a terrible accident. To protect both truck drivers and those around them, state and national governments place certain restrictions on truck agencies and drivers. First, truck agencies cannot force their drivers to ignore the hours of service restrictions. This can put a sleepy, dangerous driver in your path.

One thing about truck drivers is that they have no problem when it comes to speaking their minds. But after spending hours and hours searching through the forums and sorting through pages and pages of company listings, you may still find yourself totally confused on what to believe.

What may happen is that once you sign the contract, you may be directed to the location of the truck which may right on their lot. Imagine, you locate the truck and discover that it's not even drivable. You inform the truck company representative assuming they will make the necessary repairs. Instead, you are informed that it's your truck now and you are responsible for all repairs.

Another, possibly destructive mistake that tractor-trailer agencies make is negligent hiring. With the negligent hiring, the commercial truck company does not thoroughly look through a potential employee's driving record before hiring. A semi-truck company applicant might have had several safety violations in the past, which would make them a hazard on the road. For instance, if a tractor-trailer driver has many safety violations on his or her record, the company should avoid giving him or her access to the road.

There are many questions that should be answered and researched before you simply pick a truck company as your employer. Are there good companies out there? Absolutely! Finding them is the key. Locating a "list" of truck company "names" will not help you at all.

That way you will not be dependent upon a truck company to give you sufficient miles to succeed. You will be in control of your success. You can drive as an independent driver or work with another company of your choice. Independent financing gives you more options and chances for success.
